An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and compassionate veterinary professional to take on the role of Lead Veterinary Surgeon at a state-of-the-art 24/7 Hospital in Cheshire.This position is ideal for a vet who is as passionate about supporting people as they are about caring for pets. The Lead Veterinary Surgeon will inspire and guide a talented team of clinicians, ensuring exceptional standards of care are consistently achieved through effective mentoring, coaching, and leadership.Working in close partnership with the Practice Manager and Lead Nurse, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the hospital’s day-to-day operations—driving clinical excellence, nurturing a positive workplace culture, and contributing to strategic decision-making. Responsibilities will also include reviewing key performance indicators and financial metrics to help sustain and grow the hospital’s success.About the OrganisationThis veterinary hospital is operated by a Community Interest Company (CIC)—a non-profit organisation with a mission to make high-quality veterinary care accessible to all. The hospital also partners with leading reference laboratories for complex cases to deliver the highest standard of veterinary medicine.Beyond general practice, the hospital offers orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, CT scanning, inpatient and critical care services, and more—providing a diverse and stimulating caseload for its clinicians.About the Ideal CandidateThe successful applicant will demonstrate:
Clinical Excellence: A strong and confident clinical skillset with enthusiasm for mentoring and developing others
Exceptional Communication: The ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues alike
Leadership Experience: Previous involvement in performance management and one-to-one meetings
Strategic Awareness: An interest in evaluating practice KPIs and financial performance (P&L experience advantageous but not essential)
VetGDP Accreditation: Either already qualified or motivated to obtain the VetGDP qualification
Inspirational Leadership: Confidence in leading staff meetings and driving clinical governance initiatives
Rota
40 hours per week across 4 days
2:9 weekend rota
