Zinc works with a broad range of governmental, NGO, and private sector clients, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); the U.S. Department of State (DOS); the UK Home Office (HO); the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); UN agencies and missions; and foundations.Outline of the jobThe Project Accountant will support the work and operations of Zinc in accounting, financial management, internal controls, and financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, Zinc’s finance policies, and UK Government financial regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements. They will assist with the ethical and transparent financial management of Zinc’s projects portfolio.The Project Accountant will be based in London and be expected to be in our office at least 2 days per week. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.What you’ll be doingSpecific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:· Track project expenses and request approval for payment with required documentation· Conduct a detailed review all monthly project expenses.· Support cash requirements, disbursement, bank reconciliations, and projections.· Support local, regional, and home office London/ US accounting reports.· Prepare monthly project invoices.· Assist with resolving invoice issues.· Liaise with project team staff to offer guidance and support.· Organise and maintain comprehensive financial files and ensure that all financial record retention is compliant with legal and donor agency requirements.· Assist with project audits.RequirementsWhat we need from you:· Bachelor’s degree in accounting.· 3-5 years of accounting experience.· Experience supporting UK government funded projects in a financial capacity.· Experience working with financial application software and related reporting tools.· Candidates must have work authorisation for country location.· Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:· Strong Microsoft skills including advance Excel.· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Conditions of EmploymentCandidates who receive a job offer will be required to:· Disclose any previous disciplinary action against them resulting from a substantiated safeguarding (including any breaches involving trafficking- related activities) or workplace investigation.· Undergo background checks including employment verification, sexual offender registry (as available), identity confirmation, and anti-terrorism vetting.Area of SelectionWe’re committed to hiring a diverse workforce from different professional and cultural backgrounds, and to that end we encourage a variety of people to apply to join our company to represent the diverse range of subjects associated with our projects.How to applyPlease include a cover letter stating how you meet each of the requirements.If you require an accommodation to be made at any point throughout the recruitment process, please advise us when contacted.
