Job / Role Title: Quantity SurveyorResponsible For: Assistant QSLocation: London Bridge & SitesResponsible to : MQS, SQS, Ops Director.Sectors: Façade, Refurb, Cut & CurveSalary & Package £65,000/£70,000 per annum.Expenses – all travel for work purposes covered.Holiday – 20 days plus bank holidays + 3-5 days for Christmas shutdown.Hours – 7:30 – 5pm Monday to FridayIT – Company laptop and phone provided.Pension – Empoyee 4%, Employers 3%, 1% tax relief. Our client: Is an experienced regional contractor delivering new build, design and build and refurbishment solutions to both the public and private sector throughout London and the South-East.They specialise in education, commercial, healthcare, super-prime residential and cladding remediation projects across which we have developed an extensive portfolio of successfully delivered projects.Our client were set up to provide a Tier One Contractor approach to managing a project professionally and safely to small and mid-size regional projects. Their first projects were carried out within the educational and residential sectors, where we have developed a strong portfolio.They then expanded their expertise to deliver high-rise and multi-unit façade remediation works; providing cladding and render replacement to buildings in both London and the South-EastThey aim to have a controlled £50 million turnover by 2025. Main Purpose & summary of role: To manage the commercial resources (people and finance) of the assigned project to maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts.To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement policies for risk management.To support the authorisation and submission of project variations.To authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders.To maximise cash flow through the control, measurement (including quality) and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers. To implement all policies including those for SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) and risk management.To promote values towards its customers in order to meet or exceed their expectations, and fulfil the vision of becoming the most highly respected company in the industry Main Duties: To implement and comply with H&S policy and procedures, all legal requirements and best practice on projects and within the commercial function Actual gross margin and gross profit achieved compared with budget and planned gross margin. Provide regular updates to the Managing QS / Snr QS or Operations Director To take advantage of opportunities to develop oneself & othersCreate & maintain a procurement schedule in line with the contract programme. Update thismonthly and monitor changes in accordance with the project of works and operational teamTo maximise the planned gross margin on the project and support the achievement of the project's budgeted profitability To appoint contractors and subcontractors and to place orders for materials and plant within delegated authorities To propose, negotiate and agree the project manager's variations to contracts with customers and suppliers within delegated authoritiesTo implement policies for price, costs and gross margins To measure and value work to support the invoicing of customers and payment to suppliers within delegated authorities To manage the cash flows of the projects and issue regular updates to all stake holdersTo agree the progress and value of work with customers and suppliersTo ensure customer invoices are raised and issued.To lead, manage and motivate the project’s commercial staff and to establish its fullcommercial contribution to the organisation and specifically to ensure that relationshipsbetween the project and surveying functions are collaborative14. To assess, control, mitigate and report commercial risks.To control, measure (including quality) and value workTo recognise contractual, commercial and operational risks and propose ways to mitigate themTo support the fulfilment of contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs To provide regular, accurate, consolidated reports and forecasts for the project to area management and customers on: risksfinanceoperational performancecapability and capacitycompliance with policies and procedures Produce & maintain CVR/CTC & issue monthly to the Managing QS or Operations DirectorEnsure PC is achieved & the correct paperwork is in placeAgree the release of sub-contractor retentionEnsure that you are compliant and committed to the code of conduct set out and contained within the handbook Skills, attributes and Qualifications; Good supervision skillsAbility to manage commercially all aspects of the projectAbility to work well either alone or as part of a teamConcise knowledge of construction practices and standards within their subjectGood writing, analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to follow oral and written instructionsAbility to handle situations and problemsKnow when to ask for help and guidanceAbility to manage time effectively & prioritise tasks effectively. Qualifications; BSc or HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying preferred or other equivalent commerciallyrelated subjectPreferably qualified to CIOB or RICS accreditationRelevant CSCS CardAsbestos AwarenessAwareness and experience of construction methods, technology, standard forms ofmeasurement and forms of contract, and health and safety requirementsUnderstand and follow laid down procedures for example standing orders and financialregulations7. Computer literate in MS Office8. Ability to work on site where necessaryHigh standards of written communication, verbal, numerical and inductive (ability to deal withambiguous data) reasoningHigh standards of verbal communicationSkilled in analysis and problem solvingEnsure that you are compliant and committed to the code of conduct set outand contained within the handbook.
