Our client is one of the world's largest independent investment management firms that serves an institutional client base in over 50 countries. We are currently seeking to hire a high calibre Lawyer to join our client’s Funds Legal team in London for a period of 12 months (a maternity cover), to start late May/early June onwards. This individual will play an important role providing legal support and regulatory advice to their business activities in EMEA, in particular the management and administration of EU funds and the distribution of non-EU and EU funds in EMEA. This is an EMEA focused role yet also global as you will be expected to collaborate with colleagues based in APAC and the US, and across functions. What will the role involve? Providing or overseeing legal support for EU funds and associated regulated entities, including: Advising on regulatory, fiduciary, risk and other issues related to the management and administration of funds; Advising in relation to selling and marketing activities, including funds distribution; Engaging with regulators; Advising project teams, business colleagues and managing external counsel. What skill sets are we looking for? 6 years+ PQE, gained at a city law firm and in-house; Broad-based asset management expertise, experience of Luxembourg funds is important, as well as Irish UCITS funds; Experience in advising on fund regulatory issues e.g. UCITS, AIFMD, SFDR and other sustainability regulations; Fluency in French would be a positive but is not a requirement. What softer skill sets are we looking for? Sound business judgement, and strong counselling skills; A pragmatic and risk aware approach to practising law; The ability to prioritise and manage different components of legal services, e.g. outside counsel, project work, paralegals etc.; Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively distil and communicate complex issues in a dynamic environment.
