Role Overview As a Secondary School Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and students across a range of subjects and activities. From assisting in classrooms to providing one-on-one support for students with additional needs, your role will be varied, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. Key Responsibilities as a Secondary School Teaching Assistant: Assist subject teachers in delivering engaging lessons, providing support to students individually or in small groups as required. Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities, implementing strategies outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensuring their inclusion in classroom activities. Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting positive behaviour, encouraging participation, and fostering positive relationships among students. Assist with the preparation and organization of educational resources, materials, and equipment to enhance learning opportunities. Provide pastoral support to students, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear when needed. Requirements: Experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting (though training can be provided for the right candidate). A compassionate and patient approach to working with students, with a genuine desire to support their academic and personal development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the needs of the school and its students.
