Role Overview:As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the diverse needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities. Your dedication, compassion and adaptability will contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.About the school:This School provides specialist education and support to young people who have social, emotional, cognitive and sensorial needs or may have been assessed as having a form of Neurodiversity or some form of Complex Trauma. All young people placed with us will have an Education Health Care Plan and may not be able to attend mainstream education at this time. Our aim is to provide a family style home where young people can also receive their education on site. Education is provided by an experienced teaching team who understand the barriers young people face in accessing school and learning when they have difficult and challenging life experiences, coupled with emotional and behavioural issues. This school is an independent specialist school providing high-quality, therapeutic and child-centred education to pupils from 10 to 19 years of age in Lewes, East Sussex. Our children come from a wide range of backgrounds, but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and DisabilitiesRequirements: Previous experience working with students with special educational need and disabilities is advantageous.A caring and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to the well-being and development of all students.Excellent communication skills to liaise with students, teachers and parents effectively.Flexibility to work on a short-term or long-term basis as required by the schools.An understanding of various SEND conditions and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly. Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SENDAdapting strategies to meet individual needs.Collaborate with teachers to create and implement personalised education plansAssist in modifying curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for all studentsFoster strong relationships with students, promoting their self-confidence and engagement.Support classroom management and behaviour strategies to ensure a positive learning atmosphere.Contribute to the development of a safe and inclusive environment for all students.Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to teachers.
