They specialize in managing complex, high-value estates, including family trusts, charitable trusts, and assets across multiple jurisdictions. Their clients include wealthy families, business executives, entrepreneurs, and families with generational wealth, holding a variety of assets such as shares in family-owned businesses, quoted investments, hedge funds, landed estates, and properties. Role Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Probate Manager to join the Private Client Department. In this role, you will manage a busy caseload of probate and administration work, dealing with complex and high-value estates. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, strong administrative capabilities, and experience handling estates with assets spanning multiple jurisdictions, business and agricultural property, and complex asset-holding structures. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate the collection of assets and identification of liabilities, liaising with banks, accountants, valuers, and financial institutions to obtain date-of-death valuations. Prepare oaths for executors and administrators for the Court, as well as estate and trust inheritance tax returns for HMRC, and file applications for grants. Prepare supplementary inheritance tax forms and applications for relief, negotiate valuations, and manage tax computations with HMRC. Report estate income and capital gains to HMRC, preparing statements of income for beneficiaries. Prepare and maintain detailed estate accounts. Distribute funds to beneficiaries accordingly. The Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications: Appropriate Professional Credentials, such as a Solicitor or a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx). In-depth knowledge of Inheritance Tax rules, estate accounting, and Income & Capital Gains Tax compliance in estate administration. Proven experience administering complex and high-value estates. Exceptional Administrative Skills with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Outstanding Customer Service Skills and a professional telephone manner. Excellent written English and numeracy skills. Computer literacy, particularly with Excel and other relevant software. Why Join This Firm?
