We value a collaborative approach, promote diversity, and prioritize safety and integrity in all our operations.The Group Biodiversity & Social Performance Advisor will help support and mentor the Environment Department and the Social performance department: Strategically develop and scale the department by creating and implementing environmental initiatives, policies, and programs and ensuring the team is mentored and supported in meeting these best practices. You will also provide capability building for other departments including coordinating workshops and awareness sessions on new requirements or updates in systems and processes.The role is based either at our office in London, UK, or in Port-Gentil, Gabon. Depending on your location, you will occasionally travel to the UK or Gabon.Key ResponsibilitiesBiodiversity & Environment Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices. Oversee IFC-compliant Environmental & Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs). Manage biodiversity offset strategies and Cumulative Impact Assessments (CIAs). Provide biodiversity training and monitor environmental KPIs. Collaborate with the Head of Environment to share expertise and insights Social Performance Evaluate and improve social initiatives. Align social performance with IFC Standards and Equator Principles. Prepare and track the Annual Progress Review of Assala’s Social Plan. Collaborate with the Sustainability & Social Performance Lead to share expertise and insights Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field. Extended experience in environmental/social performance in oil & gas or extractives. Experience in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments and long-term monitoring programs using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & environmental monitoring tools. Strong knowledge of IFC Standards and Equator Principles. IMEA Certificate in environmental Management Experience with ESIAs, CIAs, and biodiversity management. Leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement skills.
