Position: Senior Electrical Design Engineer Location: Manchester (Hybrid working) Salary: £50,000 to £65,000, based on experience A prominent multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their building services team in Manchester. This role presents an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking to further their career as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within a highly regarded team known for their expertise in the built environment.Key Responsibilities: Perform detailed design calculations and sketches to meet project specificationsApply comprehensive technical engineering design knowledgeCollaborate with Senior Engineers and Technicians in a dynamic, project-focused teamWork closely with an Electrical Associate on surveys, designs, specifications, and contract administrationEngage in a mix of survey, design, office-based project management, and on-site dutiesDeliver detailed Electrical Building Services Design Engineering for new builds and refurbishmentsSupport senior staff during feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stagesAttend design meetings with other team membersInspect and report on electrical building services systemsUse specialised software for building services design calculationsEnsure designs comply with health and safety standards and legislationProduce marked-up drawings for CAD or directly create CAD drawingsSelect and specify electrical products, equipment, and installation standards for accurate costing and contractor installationAs a Senior Electrical Engineer, lead surveys, designs, drawings, and specifications within larger project teams Requirements: The ideal candidate will hold a degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and possess the experience and qualifications to achieve Incorporated Engineer status, aligned with IET or CIBSE standards. Additional qualifications include: Proficiency in designing electrical systems, from concept to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A), including low voltage electrical distribution, lighting, power supplies, fire alarms, ICT cabling, and cable containmentExperience with Amtech softwareAbility to read and interpret AutoCAD drawingsKnowledge of Building Regulations Part L complianceFamiliarity with Microsoft Office applicationsExpertise in technical design softwareStrong communication skills, both verbal and written Benefits: The company offers accredited training programs, with qualifications ranging from entry-level to master’s degrees in leadership, management, and executive coaching.
