Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Sunderland Start Date: Immediate / September 2025 Salary: £89 – £108 per day (based on experience, skills and qulifications) Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time OnlyMake a lasting impact – support young learners with SEND in Sunderland.Protocol Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Sunderland to recruit a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with complex needs including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.The Role: You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to: Support individual pupils or small groups, helping them access learning Encourage engagement through creative, sensory and hands-on activities Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour management and daily routines Adapt resources to suit learning needs and EHCP targets Foster a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is: Calm, patient and empathetic Passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive Experienced in working with SEND pupils (school or care-based settings) Confident in managing behaviour positively and constructively Flexible, reliable and ready to learn A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, Autism Awareness) is desirable but not essential.What Protocol Education Offers: Competitive weekly pay Personalised support from a dedicated consultant Access to specialist SEND CPD and ongoing training Opportunity to build a career in education Temp-to-perm opportunities available Ready to take the next step in your SEND career?
