Job Title Policy Manager Hours Full time with majority home working (minimum 4 days per month in the office) Job level £55,000 - £60,000 – Band 4 Location Bar Standards Board, 289-293 High Holborn, WC1V 7HZ The Role This role is part of a new Professional Standards Team, sitting within the Regulatory Standards Directorate. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies that underpin standards expected of barristers, including the outcomes required of pre- and post-qualification training and other quality assurance arrangements. The post holder will also help set the standard of how this team is valued both within the Bar Standards Board but also by external stakeholders. The post-holder will work collaboratively with colleagues already in post, including a Policy Manager and Senior Policy Manager, currently dividing their time across team projects. It is anticipated that as this team expands in the future, the post holder will provide line-management for colleagues within the team. Key skills and experience required to undertake the role include: Knowledge, understanding and experience of current issues and best practice in the further and Higher education sectors Knowledge, understanding and experience of the current issues in regulation and the role that this plays in an education and training context Knowledge, understanding and experience of implementing and managing quality standards and competence-based assessment in a professional or other regulatory context Collaborative working, with excellent interpersonal, influencing and networking skills Excellent project management, organisational, operational and forward planning skills Excellent verbal and drafting / written communication skills, drafting effective papers, presenting complex information and difficult messages clearly and persuasively Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline Experience of standards setting, assessment methodologies and quality assurance processes Experience of developing complex policy and systems in a regulatory or other challenging environment Full details of the role requirements, and role specification can be viewed in the job description – see below / attached.
