Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services Consultancy London, Hybrid | £40,000–£45,000 + Benefits | Full-Time, Permanent A well-established and design-focused building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its London-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative practice that places sustainability, performance and intelligent design at the centre of its work. The Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical designs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting the development of sustainable and efficient building systems. You will also take the lead on smaller projects under the supervision of senior engineers. Your responsibilities will include:
Producing design information including calculations, schematics, technical schedules and drawingsCarrying out dynamic thermal modelling using IES, and SAP/SBEM assessmentsSizing equipment and systems and ensuring compliance with the brief and relevant regulationsCoordinating with other disciplines and attending site visits and client meetingsSupporting junior team members and contributing to a culture of shared learningWorking towards chartership with CIBSE or IMechE
What You Will Need
A minimum of three years' experience in building services mechanical designA degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related disciplineProficiency with 2D AutoCAD and experience using Revit for 3D modellingCompetence in thermal modelling using IES softwareA strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and low-energy design principlesFamiliarity with UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidelines and planning policyGood communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach
Desirable
Experience acting as the main point of contact for design coordinationAwareness of current trends in sustainable building and environmental design
