Job DescriptionALTEN UK is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to support high-integrity defence systems on a long-term programme involving airborne mission-critical platforms. You’ll be contributing to the safety assurance of complex systems in line with airworthiness standards, working within a multi-disciplinary team and applying structured safety engineering methodologies throughout the full system lifecycle.Key Responsibilities:Perform detailed safety assessments including FMEA, FMECA, FHA, FTA, and Common Mode Analysis to identify and mitigate hazards at both system and subsystem levels.Define and maintain Safety & Environmental (S&E) requirements, ensuring traceability to system functions and design features.Support the development of safety cases, including argument structure, evidence collation, and production of associated hazard analysis reports.Ensure adherence to project-specific and industry safety processes and standards, contributing to regular compliance audits and reviews.Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software teams to evaluate functional safety, interface risks, and emergent behaviour across integrated platforms.Contribute to planning and estimation activities, supporting risk assessments and verification planning.
