A firmly established Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Redbridge is seeking a skilled and compassionate Behaviour Specialist to join their dedicated team. This setting supports pupils aged 11–16 who present with social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH) and who require a tailored approach to learning and behaviour management.The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils re-engage with education by providing consistent behavioural support and helping create a safe, structured and nurturing environment. You’ll work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies to support each pupil’s individual development.Key Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour both in and out of classHelping implement personalised behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategiesBuilding strong, positive relationships to encourage trust and emotional regulationSupporting reintegration into mainstream or longer-term specialist settings where appropriateCollaborating with staff, families, and professionals to ensure a consistent approach
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEMH or behavioural needs, ideally in a school or PRU settingStrong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approachAbility to de-escalate and manage challenging situations effectivelyTraining such as Team Teach or similar is desirable (but not essential)Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
