We believe every individual has the right to live with dignity, respect, and security, and we strive to attract and retain top talent who share our philosophy of care.   The Opportunity A great opportunity exists for 2 Cooks to join our team at Woodlands Lodge, a 72-bed aged care living facility in Wallsend. You will be part of a large kitchen team consisting of 2 Head Chefs and a large Food Services Team to ensure the smooth, efficient, and high-quality delivery of all food services within the facility. Shifts are from 7 am - 3 pm with availability required on both weekdays and weekends. We are seeking people to provide a high standard of quality care to facility residents, by preparing, cooking, and the presentation of nutritious meals that meet the dietary and cultural needs of aged care residents, while ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards. What you will bring to the role: Experienced in bulk cooking, preferably in an aged care or healthcare setting Knowledge and experience in working to the compliance of the Food Safety Standards to HACCP level Strong time management and communication skills Understanding of residents rights, person-centered care and dignity of risk Ability to manage change efficiently and effectively Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook) Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery/Hospitality Food Safety Supervisor Certificate Understanding of Aged Care Quality Standards and Special Dietary needs Experience in Aged Care desirable Current First Aid Certificate desirable Excellent communication skills Team player who is highly motivated Availability to work weekend shifts Benefits and perks Competitive remuneration including eligibility for not-for-profit salary packaging options for permanent employees (up to $15,900 living expenses and $2,650 entertainment benefits, tax free) Access to a Wellness Program Employee Assistance Program Supportive and friendly work environment Work/life balance and flexible working arrangements available Workplace education and support provided Opportunity to make a real difference to your community and the lives of those in need Pre-employment screening The successful candidate is required to have completed/have a willingness to undertake the following:- Vaccinated in accordance with UPA’s Immunisation and Vaccination Policy.
