Bookkeeper Accountancy PracticeLocation: AbingdonJob Type: Full-timeSalary: £28,000 £35,000 per annum (Pro Rata, Depending on Experience)A well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Abingdon is currently seekingan experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their friendly and professional team.This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled finance professional to become an integral partof a supportive firm that prioritises client service, personal development, and a healthywork-life balance.The Role:This is a varied, hands-on position that offers exposure to a broad client portfolio spanningindustries such as horse racing, construction, retail, and professional services. Thesuccessful candidate will work closely with both clients and internal teams to supportsmooth, compliant financial operations.Key Responsibilities:Processing payments, invoices, income, and receipts using accounting software including Xero, Sage, and QuickBooksPreparing monthly and ad-hoc financial reports (e.g. P&L, balance sheets, age debtors/creditors)Completing VAT returns in accordance with HMRC deadlinesSupporting year-end accounts preparation and liaising with the year-end teamHandling payroll and assisting with basic HR and compliance queriesMaintaining organised digital and physical filing systems for client documentationProviding financial insights to aid client decision-makingAssisting with general office administration and phone cover during busy periods Candidate Requirements:Minimum of 2 years bookkeeping experienceSound knowledge of accounting principles and UK financial regulationsProficiency with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)Strong organisational and time management skillsExcellent attention to detail and analytical capabilitiesEffective communicator with a professional, client-focused approacAbility to work independently and take initiativeA full UK driving licence Whats on Offer:Competitive salary, depending on experiencePrivate medical insuranceCompany pension schemeFree onsite parkingMonday to Friday schedule promoting work-life balanceOpportunities for ongoing professional development and growth This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper looking to join a forward-thinking practice in a stable and supportive working environment.
