Job Advert: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary School, RuncornLocation: Runcorn Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm Opportunity Start Date: ASAPA mainstream secondary school in Runcorn is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a full-time role with the opportunity to move from a temporary to a permanent contract for the right candidate.The HLTA will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role will involve providing in-class support, delivering targeted interventions, and guiding students to achieve their academic and personal goals.Key Responsibilities: Support students with SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4.Deliver small group and 1:1 interventions, tailored to individual learning needs.Collaborate with teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver lessons or activities.Provide guidance, encouragement, and pastoral support to help students engage in learning.Adapt support strategies as needed to meet the individual needs of students.Contribute to creating an inclusive, positive, and safe learning environment. Qualities and Experience Required: HLTA status or substantial relevant experience in a similar role.Demonstrated experience of supporting students with SEND in a school setting.Strong ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.Confidence in leading small groups and delivering planned interventions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with staff, students, and parents/carers.A calm, patient, and supportive approach to managing challenges.Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide students to achieve their best.Strong organisational skills and the ability to use initiative.Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
