This is a full-time role, supporting a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone experienced in supporting children with additional needs in a mainstream setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the pupil to access learning, manage transitions, and build essential communication and social skills. The school provides a nurturing, structured, and aspirational environment where all pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential.Key Responsibilities Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD and complex needsAdapt activities and use visual supports, structured routines, and personalised strategies to aid engagement in learningSupport communication development, including the use of visual timetables, PECS, or Makaton (where appropriate)Encourage social interaction and emotional regulation through positive reinforcement and a calm, patient approachWork closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP targets and personalised support plansRecord and monitor progress through observations and contribute to regular reviewsPromote inclusion by supporting the pupil to participate fully in school life and classroom activities Person Specification Experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs in schools, care, or similar settingsKnowledge of autism strategies to support communication, learning, and behaviourA calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with children with additional needsAbility to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families Must have a current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through ConnexWhy Join Connex Education?
