About the Project
The Schools Triathlon is a fun, sporting event for7–13 year olds. Its mission? To get more young people moving, having fun, and discovering the power of fundraising. In 2025, over10,000 young people took part in 12 events, raising an incredible £1.5 million for Restless Development and local charities. Since it began, the Schools Triathlon has raised over £5 million—making it our flagship fundraising event every year.
About the Role
The Schools Triathlon Young Leader plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of the Schools Triathlon series. Working within Restless Development’s Fundraising Team, you will contribute to event delivery, school engagement, participant recruitment, and fundraising support.
You will also gain hands-on experience in event management, public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and fundraising operations, working closely with schools, participants, partners, and event delivery teams.
Position : School Triathlon Young Leaders *4 : Application Pack
Location : Remote, with occasional days in our London office. Key locations for this role are Somerset/Dorset, Reading/Oxford, Bristol, Manchester, and Kent.
Salary : UK Living Wage - daily salary £92 per day with an average 1-2 days per week. Less days are likely between November 2025 and March 2026, & more days throughout April - July 2026.
Preferred start date : Between November 2025 and January 2026
Length of contract : 6-8 month contractVisa requirements : Must have the right to work in the UKOther requirements : Must have a full drivers license and access to reliable and roadworthy vehicle Must have access to your own IT equipment e.g. Laptop
Reports to : Schools Triathlon TeamExpected travel : Regular travel to surrounding schools and for triathlon events
Systems & Processes:
Keep our supporter database (Salesforce) up to date, following our processes and GDPR guidelines.
Make sure all JustGiving pages and campaigns are recorded correctly and regularly updated.
Update our registration system (Eventrac) in line with processes and GDPR requirements.
Provide general admin support to the Fundraising Team when needed.
Fundraising & Relationships:
Act as a friendly and professional point of contact for local participating schools and Host Schools.
Help respond to parent and school enquiries through the Schools Triathlon inbox.
Join meetings with schools and event suppliers when required.
Event Engagement & Communication
Deliver fun and engaging assemblies in local schools to encourage pupils to get involved.
Inspire young people to sign up and fundraise by running assemblies and fundraising workshops.
Support schools in recruiting and motivating staff and student volunteers.
Play a hands-on role at events, including welcoming participants, supporting volunteers, marshalling thecourse, and helping with event logistics.
Social Media & PR
Assist in promoting the Schools Triathlon across different social media channels and groups.
Other
Build your understanding of international development and the global issues affecting young people.
Be available to work some weekends during the event series (time off in lieu will be provided).
Take on additional duties where required to support the success of the events.
Skills and Experience:
Essential
We are looking for individuals who:
Fluent written and spoken English
Driving license and access to a roadworthy vehicle
Interest in the charity sector and/or event fundraising/management
Access to your own IT equipment
Desirables:
You can be organized and meet deadlines for your work
Some experience of public speaking
Some experience of using different communication methods to a range of audiences e.g. emailing, telephone calling
You have good attention to detail
You don’t mind doing different tasks and can prioritize tasks you are set
You’re able to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
You’re happy to work independently, but you’re also a great team player
Demonstrate a willingness to adapt and learn on the job
