Service Care Legal are recruting on behalf of a highly reputable London Borough Council who are seeking a Childcare Lawyer to join their team on a contract basis. Please find below further details with regards to the role and requirements.Job Title - Childcare LawyerLocation - Central LondonDuration - 3-month assignment, 36 hours per week, 2 days per week in the officeRate - £40.00 - £43.09ph umbrella / £38.08ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £33.98ph PAYE exc. holidy payAbout the Role:Provide expert legal advice and guidance on childcare matters to colleagues, managers, and partner agencies.Manage a diverse caseload of childcare matters and contribute to high-profile cases.Ensure compliance with legal frameworks and deliver timely and accurate legal and procedural advice.Support the Principal Solicitor and Director of Law on significant, politically sensitive cases.Experience:Proven experience advising on local authority duties and powers relating to children and young adults.Skills & Knowledge:Strong knowledge of childcare law, related legislation, and case law.Awareness of local government law and decision-making processes (desirable but not essential).Effective communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.Ability to work collaboratively, handle sensitive issues diplomatically, and maintain detail-focused compliance.Digital proficiency and willingness to embrace agile and flexible working.Qualifications:Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx entitled to practice in England and Wales.Applications from Trainees nearing qualification will also be considered.If this Childcare Lawyer position sounds like an opportunity of interest for you or someone you know, please feel free to reach out to Lloyd Stanley on 01772208969, or email lloyd.stanley@servicecare.org.uk.
