1-year contract with a local authority SummaryAs a Major Projects Planner on a 1-year contract with a local authority, you will serve as a senior expert within the team, managing complex projects and providing specialist advice. You will deputize for senior managers when needed and play a crucial role in the team's success.ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership: Lead complex and strategically important Development Management projects, including major applications and appeals at Public Inquiries.Negotiation & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to resolve conflicts and negotiate significant financial and community benefits through S.106 legal agreements.Expert Advice & Communication: Serve as the Council's senior expert spokesperson on Development Management issues, prepare and present high-level reports, and represent the Council at committees and public forums.Team Contribution: Mentor junior staff, contribute to team performance management, and help develop a positive, customer-friendly planning service.Essential Experience RequiredMinimum of 5 years' knowledge of the legislative, policy, and procedural frameworks within which the planning service operates.Extensive post-qualification experience in Development Management.Proven experience negotiating on complex applications to secure community benefits.Experience mentoring staff.Essential Qualification RequiredPost-Graduate qualification in Town Planning.Membership of, or eligibility for, the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).Additional InformationThe role closes on 18th October 2025, apply ASAP.
