SEN Secondary TeacherBarking, East London£ per week (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)Start date: Oct 2025/ASAPA well-established and inclusive special educational needs school in Barking, East London, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Secondary Teacher to join its supportive and forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will teach a small class of Key Stage 3/4 pupils with complex learning needs, supporting their academic progress, communication, and personal development.This is a vibrant and nurturing learning community that provides education for children and young people aged 4–19, many of whom have autism and associated communication or sensory needs. The school’s ethos is centred around respect, resilience, and aspiration, with each learner’s individual goals and needs placed at the heart of everything they do.Through a bespoke and child-centred curriculum, the school promotes enjoyment, confidence, and active participation. Learning experiences are designed to be ambitious, meaningful, and responsive — ensuring that every pupil has the opportunity to achieve both academically and personally.Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of pupils with a range of SEN, including autism and complex learning profiles.
Work closely with support staff and therapists to implement EHCP targets and provide an inclusive, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
Foster communication, independence, and life skills through a balanced mix of academic, sensory, and practical learning opportunities.
Promote a positive and caring atmosphere where every pupil feels safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.
Contribute to the wider life of the school through pastoral support, collaborative planning, and ongoing professional development.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Be passionate about teaching in a specialist setting and committed to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and empathy in adapting lessons to individual learning styles.
Hold a recognised UK teaching qualification (QTS or QTLS).
Have prior experience or a strong interest in teaching pupils with SEND, including those with autism or communication difficulties.
Show a reflective and collaborative approach, with a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team.
