Do you have experience working closely with children who require extra support in school?A fantastic school located in Basingstoke is seeking an SEN Support Worker to join their team. This is a full-time, term-time position supporting a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on an individual basis, starting asap.The students in this Basingstoke school have a variety of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, challenging behaviour or learning difficulties, so if you have experience of working 1-2-1 with SEN or have a passion and desire to support children with additional needs, then this could be a role for you.The role of an SEN Support Worker: To support students who struggle with their class workFacilitate a fun and friendly learning environmentTo provide support to the class teacherTo help the class teacher prepare lesson materials and classroom boardsTo keep the classroom a tidy and presentable environmentTo encourage children to do their bestHelp manage classroom behaviourListen to the children read and practice their phonics The successful SEN Support Worker: Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential).Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essentialKnowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.
