Protocol Education are proud to be working with a new client, a forward-thinking and inclusive school in Solihull, to appoint a Head of Year (Non-Teaching).This role is perfect for someone who’s passionate about pastoral care, thrives on building strong relationships, and is motivated by helping young people overcome challenges to reach their potential.At the school, pastoral care sits at the heart of everything they do — they believe students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and seen.
The Role
As a Head of Year, you’ll play a key pastoral leadership role within the school community, focusing on behaviour, attendance, wellbeing, and progress.Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring and supporting the academic and personal development of all pupils in your year group
Leading on attendance, punctuality, and behaviour management
Delivering assemblies and pastoral interventions
Building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
Working closely with the safeguarding and SEND teams to ensure every pupil receives the right support
Tracking progress and implementing strategies to raise achievement and engagement
You’ll act as the main point of contact for students and families, helping shape a school culture built on respect, inclusion, and ambition.
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Experience working with young people in education, youth work, or pastoral roles
Excellent communication, empathy, and organisational skills
Confidence managing behaviour and building trust with students
A genuine passion for supporting wellbeing and inclusion
The ability to lead, motivate, and inspire others

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
