You will be joining a great team that predominantly works with children who have a variety of special needs. Therefore, a desire to assist in this area is required, but no experience is necessary!About the Role: Teaching Assistant – Special Needs Location: BordonStart Date: ASAPSalary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour About the Academy: The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with complex learning needs, providing a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. They have a dedicated team of highly trained staff who work closely with each child’s strengths, setting high but achievable expectations. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and benefit from a collaborative approach involving therapists, medical professionals, and specialist teachers. A range of on-site therapies, including speech and language, occupational, and physiotherapy, is available to support pupils' individual needs. Personal development—spiritual, moral, social, and cultural—is central to their ethos, helping students gain independence and prepare for adult life. A full-time nurse is also based on site to support pupil well-being.Your Role as a Teaching Assistant Will Include: Support students with additional needs to access learning and achieve their potentialAssist the class teacher in delivering lessons and managing the classroom environmentPrepare learning materials and help with classroom setupProvide one-to-one or small group support as directed by the teacherBring energy, creativity, and positivity into the classroomStay calm and dependable, even under pressure.Promote inclusion, equality, and safeguard all children.Be flexible and responsive to changing school needsNurture students' emotional well-being with care and empathyWork collaboratively with teachers, staff, families, and external professionals What you’ll need to be a Teaching Assistant: Strong communication skills – both written and spokenExperience supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH, or other additional needs (or a strong desire to learn). An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain oneGCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C/Level 4 or abovePrevious experience in a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential – full training and support will be provided!
