The Opportunity My client is seeking a Principal Systems Verification & Validation Engineer to take a key role in planning, leading, and executing V&V activities across major defence and technology programmes. You’ll work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, leading a team of talented engineers to ensure that hardware and software systems meet exacting requirements and are delivered to the highest standards of performance, quality, and security. This is a pivotal position for someone who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and wants their work to have a direct impact on national capability and security. Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver all aspects of V&V lifecycle activity — from planning and test design through to execution and reporting. Champion best practice in verification, validation, and quality assurance across projects. Oversee and mentor V&V engineers, ensuring effective delivery and technical excellence. Produce high-quality project documentation, including test plans, reports, design estimates, and metrics. Conduct rigorous system reviews, risk assessments, and integration activities. Investigate and resolve issues, providing clear reporting and root cause analysis. Apply IVVTQA principles to drive quality and compliance throughout the systems engineering lifecycle. Work closely with systems, software, and project management teams to ensure requirements traceability and verification integrity. About You You’ll be a natural problem solver and an experienced engineer who enjoys leading by example. You’re proactive, methodical, and passionate about getting things right. Essential experience: Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent experience in Systems/Software/Control Engineering. 5+ years’ experience in IVVTQA or equivalent within a systems engineering environment. Skilled in requirements and test management tools (e.g., DOORS). Proven ability to plan, execute, and report on complex test and validation programmes. Experience working to Military, Defence, or Industry Standards. Demonstrable leadership or mentoring experience. Why Join My Client?
