Role Purpose: As a qualified High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a vital role in supporting both teaching and learning across the school, with a particular focus on pupils with SEND. You will work closely with teachers and specialists to help deliver personalised learning experiences and promote pupil wellbeing. Key Duties: Independently lead small group or one-to-one sessions targeting SEND pupil progress. Assist in developing and adapting lesson plans to meet diverse learning needs. Implement behaviour support plans and promote positive behaviour through effective strategies. Contribute to assessment by observing, recording, and reporting on pupil development. Facilitate transitions and daily routines to support pupils’ emotional security and learning readiness. Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers, and external professionals to implement IEPs and other intervention plans. Support whole-class teaching activities when required, taking on teaching responsibilities under guidance. Supervise pupils safely during breaks, lunchtimes, and off-site activities. Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and school events to support the wider school community. Candidate Profile: HLTA qualification is essential. Experience supporting SEND pupils within the UK education system. Confident in delivering structured teaching activities and managing challenging behaviour. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with staff, pupils, and parents. Empathetic, patient, adaptable, and proactive in problem-solving.
