Homelessness Support Worker About the Role:Act as the first point of contact for people and services accessing the local authority's housing support centre.Provide a welcoming, safe, and organised environment for service users and staff.Support the smooth running of the centre through administration, stock management, and coordination of appointments and activities.Promote positive relationships and clear communication with service users, staff, and external agencies.Assist with health and safety, safeguarding, and reporting maintenance issues. Key Responsibilities:Greet and triage individuals accessing the service.Manage face-to-face, phone, and email communications.Provide empathetic, non-judgemental support to reduce distress and anxiety.Maintain accurate stock records and manage ordering of consumables.Coordinate bookings, events, and activities using online calendars and shared diaries.Monitor and maintain health, safety, and cleanliness of the environment.Promote awareness of the service and connect service users to relevant support agencies.Attend supervision, team meetings, and reflective practice sessions.Follow statutory requirements including Health & Safety, Data Protection, and safeguarding policies. Person Specification - Essential:Understanding or personal experience of issues affecting single homeless people or those at risk.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work proactively, respectfully, and maintain boundaries.Good organisation and ability to plan and prioritise work.Enthusiasm for working with diverse individuals on a daily basis.Commitment to co-production and service user involvement in service design. Desirable:Familiarity with IT applications including Microsoft Office.Ability to use initiative and problem-solving skills.Commitment to personal learning and development.Other Information:Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm shifts.DBS check required.Short-term contract: 3 months with possible extension.
