Year 2 Class Teacher
Location: Primary Schools in Sheffield & Barnsley Contract: Full-time, Permanent (or Fixed-term) Start Date: ASAPAbout the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Year 2 Teacher to join one of our welcoming primary schools across Sheffield and Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to ensuring all children make strong progress in the final year of KS1. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an ECT, we would love to hear from you.Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across the Year 2 curriculum
Prepare pupils for KS1 assessments through supportive, well-structured teaching
Differentiate learning to meet a range of abilities, including pupils with SEND and EAL
Promote positive behaviour and create a warm, nurturing classroom environment
Track pupil progress, complete assessments, and use data to inform planning
Work collaboratively with colleagues across KS1 and the wider school team
Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
Contribute to wider school life, including events, clubs, and enrichment activities
Person Specification
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum, phonics, and early literacy
Ability to create engaging, differentiated learning experiences
Good classroom and behaviour management
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s well-being
Desirable:
Experience teaching Year 2 or within Key Stage 1
Experience delivering phonics programmes (e.g., Little Wandle, RWI)
Knowledge of KS1 SATs and assessment frameworks
A creative approach to curriculum and classroom practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
