Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for permanent) Location: Wirral, Merseyside
About the Role
We are excited to be recruiting passionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across the Wirral. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential academically and personally.
Role Overview
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to students with a variety of SEND needs, including those displaying challenging behaviours. You’ll work both 1:1 and in small groups, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.This is a full-time, temporary role until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate. It’s an excellent chance to develop your skills and experience while making a genuine impact.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND.Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs and styles.Support students with behavioural challenges, promoting positive strategies for self-regulation.Collaborate with teachers to modify resources and ensure full engagement in lessons.Track and report student progress, sharing insights with teachers and the SENDCO.Promote an inclusive, positive environment that encourages learning and personal growth.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in education, youth work, or care settings.Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting challenging behaviours.Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.A proactive, enthusiastic approach and a genuine passion for supporting SEND students.A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.Commitment to helping students succeed in an inclusive environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
