Cover Supervisor Location: York, North Yorkshire Contract: Supply / Part-Time / Full-Time Start Date: January 2026 or sooner Salary: £115 – £130 per dayAre you confident, resilient, and passionate about working with young people? GSL Education is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in York from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds looking to step into education.The RoleAs a Cover Supervisor, you will: Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain on task with pre-planned work.Manage classroom behaviour and create a calm, productive learning environment.Support students across a range of subjects, primarily at KS3 and KS4.Follow school policies and procedures, promoting a positive learning culture.Provide support to teaching staff and contribute to the wider school community. Who Can Apply?We welcome applicants from a variety of sectors and experiences, including: Support workers & care assistants – strong behaviour management, empathy, and communicationSports coaches & youth workers – experience engaging groups and delivering structured sessionsTeaching assistants – knowledge of school routines and student supportGraduates (any subject) – especially those considering a career in teachingEx-armed forces or police personnel – confident leadership and problem-solvingCustomer service, hospitality, or retail staff – transferable people skills, adaptability, and resilience Skills & Qualifications Beneficial to the Role A degree or Level 3 qualification (advantageous but not essential)Experience working with young people (in any setting)Strong communication and organisation skillsThe ability to lead a classroom with confidencePatience, resilience, and a positive approachAn Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to apply)Two references covering the last two years Why Work with GSL Education?
