SEMH Teaching Assistant – Northumberland Do you have the patience of a saint and the sense of humour to match?We’re on the lookout for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a Northumberland school.The role:
Every day will be different, but your goal stays the same: to help young people feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. You’ll be working 1:1 and in small groups, supporting pupils to regulate their emotions, build confidence, and engage with learning in a positive way.What you’ll be doing:
Supporting children with SEMH needs inside and outside the classroom
Building strong, trusting relationships that make pupils feel seen and valued
Using positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and outside agencies to support pupil progress
What we’re looking for:
Experience working with young people (schools, youth work, care, or similar)
A calm, resilient approach and a genuine passion for supporting SEMH pupils
Strong communication and the ability to work as part of a supportive team
Flexibility, patience, and the ability to think on your feet

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
