Business Development is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth with an opportunity to make a real difference to the future of the company. This position will support the UK business along with its overseas branches and European subsidiary.Job ResponsibilitiesIdentifying residential and commercial title insurance opportunities and increasing Stewart’s market share and revenueTo monitor and assist in management and development of existing client accounts.Prospecting new clients and opportunities.Regular (weekly/monthly) review of client activity sales reports segmented by product and business channel.To support growth of Stewart residential and commercial book in the U.K.To increase brand recognition and to represent Stewart to a very high standard.Supporting the use of title insurance by residential and commercial real estate lawyers, lending institutions, borrowers, and builders/developersManaging day-to-day client needs, including responding to inquiries and file mattersProviding quotes to clients on title insurance policiesIdentifying regionally specific opportunities for new coverage and servicesResponding to requests from underwriting on matters pertaining to local real estate law, risk and procedureAssisting in setting residential and commercial strategy, planning, generating new product ideas, new initiatives, and work to achieve overall established goalsOrganizing and scheduling client visits/contactsRecording BD activities in Stewart’s internal CRMReporting on BD activities on a weekly and monthly basisCreating and managing specified sales targets and goalsBecoming a subject matter expert and champion for new Stewart productsScheduling and conducting presentations to firms outlining the value of residential and commercial title insurancePromoting, educating, and training clients on Stewart products and new initiativesLiaising with internal departments to escalate BD issues (i.e., underwriting, claims, finance, support)Liaising with the Events and Communications departments concerning initiatives that affect residential and commercial BD, where requestedSoliciting opportunities to participate on industry-related boards, where requestedProviding market review, analysis, and feedbackKeeping informed of industry news and on issues that affect the real estate marketKeeping informed of competitor information (e.g., pricing, coverage) and providing market intelligence updates to VP, Business DevelopmentAssisting with internal and external training initiativesSupporting other BD reps on the team with introductions, meetings, and presentationsAssisting with out-of-region events and peer functionsInitiating and hosting client functions and eventsDrafting, creating, and delivering industry content via technology enabled platformsOrganizing and attending Stewart client events , property events, expos, and industry networking sessions.Attending industry trade shows and conferences, as requiredIdentifying media opportunities locally to promote consumer education and awareness of title insuranceOther duties as required or assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred; additional qualifications such as conveyancing or law are considered a strong asset. A master’s degree would be an advantage.Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience practicing real estate law in private practice or equivalent business development experience in either title insurance, mortgage lending, insurance, or legal products.Background in title insurance or legal property conveyancing.Network of contacts within UK law firms or real estate developers.Familiarity with insurance products and underwriting processes. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.Strategic thinker with strong analytical abilities.Knowledge of both Residential and Commercial real estate lawValid and in good standing driver’s licenseWilling to travel for various amounts of timeAbility to work from home or in the fieldExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational and scheduling skillsExcellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to troubleshootProfessional sales approach and the ability to build relationshipsHave working knowledge of Microsoft SuitStewart Title is committed to accommodating people with disabilities.
