Job Title: Samrt Water Meter Installer (Water Meter Technician & Site Surveyor)Location: EssexContract Type: Self-employed / Price workReports to: Delivery ManagerRole OverviewWe’re looking for skilled and motivated Water Meter Technicians to join our growing team in Essex. You’ll be responsible for the installation of external smart water meters and assisting with surveying in the public highway to identify suitable dig locations.Key responsibilities Installing smart water meters externally at domestic and commercial propertiesConduct external surveys alongside installations to support installation workRespond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot any issues with the meters or their associated equipmentWorking safely and efficiently in line with company and industry standardsEnsuring accurate completion of all work records and customer documentationEnsure good communication maintained with planners and delivery teamDeliver a positive customer experience. Explain how the new smart meter works and answer customer questions about its features and use Required Qualifications & Skills NRSWA accreditation desirableEUSR Water Hygiene CardFull UK Driving LicenceStrong understanding of reinstatement practices and traffic managementGood working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices in utility environmentsAbility to use, repair, and maintain machinery and tools, and a basic understanding of water distribution systems preferred Desirable Experience & Skills Previous experience in smart water metering or similar work stream, installing water meters or working in a plumbing or utilities environmentAbility to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks and deliver quality workmanshipCompetent using handheld/mobile technology for reporting and auditingStrong communication and customer service skills are crucial, as the suitable candidate will be representing the company to the public What we offer Excellent price work rates – great earning potential for efficient engineersOngoing work across Essex and surrounding areasSupportive managementVan/Tools & Fuel Card Provided
