Lead Designer – Osprey Charging Network ABOUT US: Osprey is an award-winning UK-wide rapid charging network for electric vehicles (EVs). We’re looking for a Lead Designer to lead the development of EV designs from conception through to detailed drawings, working with key stakeholders and collaborating with supply chain partners to deliver best in class ultrarapid electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Osprey operates over 1,400 rapid and ultra-rapid EV charge points, providing reliable infrastructure in a broad range of locations from convenient local sites to large, super-fast hubs on the UK’s major roads. JOB TITLE: Lead Designer LOCATION: LONDON (OFFICE BASED) CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time LINE MANAGER: Head of Development KEY STAKEHOLDERS: Project development team, external design consultants, IDNO partner, Team and Role Overview: Our EV development team is dedicated to delivering innovative, best in class high power electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This role is integral to creating detailed designs that meet performance, safety, and compliance standards, as well as meeting our valued customers expectations. As a Lead Designer you will work closely with our engineering consultancy partners, project managers, and other specialists to bring concepts to life, ensuring seamless integration across all stages of design and development. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs for ultra-rapid EV charging hubs and electrical infrastructure components.Collaborate with the wider development team and project teams to ensure design feasibility and compliance.Review and refine designs based on technical feedback.Maintain accurate documentation and version control of all design files. Contribute to design standards and best practices within the team. Provide guidance, line management and mentoring to CAD Designers. Ensure all designs meet safety, sustainability, and regulatory requirements. Skills & Experience Required Proven experience in electric vehicle charging infrastructure or electrical infrastructure design. Strong proficiency in 2D CAD (AutoCAD preferred). Experience with 3D modelling and rendering (Rhino + V-Ray preferred). Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications. Ability to interpret utilities and buried services to inform coordinated design solutions, taking account of constructibility and build ability considerations. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary projects. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Professional approach with a focus on quality and innovation. Demonstrable experience developing new design processes for efficient design development. Desirable: Advanced 3D model and architectural rendering experience. Experience with swept-path analysis, highways planning, and planning-application drawing packs. Fundamental electrical design understanding and experience up to 11KV. Experience of NERS design approval processes for adoptable electrical networks.
