About the Role: A specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Leyland is seeking a resilient, proactive, and dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join their team from January 2026. This full-time role offers the opportunity to support children and young people who display challenging behaviours and require tailored emotional and educational support.
You'll work closely with teaching staff to help pupils regulate their emotions, stay engaged in learning, and develop essential life skills. The role also involves supporting pupils in physical activities, outdoor learning, and alternative education sessions, so confidence in active environments is essential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a career within specialist education-no formal qualifications required.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Assist with behaviour regulation and use de-escalation strategies when required
Build positive, trusting relationships with students
Support learning both inside and outside the classroom, including physical and outdoor activities
Help implement individual behaviour and learning plans
Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider pastoral team
Maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
Full UK driving licence - essential
Must have 24 months of employment references with no large unexplained gaps
Must hold an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply and pay for one
Must be resilient, proactive, hardworking, and confident managing challenging situations
Ability to work well as part of a team
Comfortable participating in physical activities and learning outside the classroom
