With published authors and award-winning data scientists who contribute some of the major machine learning and distributed data technologies, such as Apache Spark, we are a friendly, passionate group of engineers making a career out of building great software for our customers.The Adthena data team is dealing with hundreds of millions of data points every day, generated from over two thousand data processes running through workflows, huge distributed computations in Spark, and streaming data coming in twenty-four hours a day at hundreds of times a second.Our engineering culture is underpinned by sharing knowledge, coaching and growing together. You will enjoy this role if you love writing code, learning cutting-edge new technologies, solving problems and winning as a team.What you’ll do at AdthenaAs a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll work across the entire stack and help shape the future architecture of our complex data systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Web and Data Science teams to deliver user-centric solutions—while using modern tools, including Gen AI assistants, to accelerate development, improve quality, and amplify team velocity. This is a role for someone who loves writing code, solving hard problems, staying ahead of emerging tech, and driving engineering excellence.ResponsibilitiesUnderstand distributed technologies and the best practices around themBuild and maintain services/features/libraries that serve as definitive examples for new engineersDesign and write effective, complex Spark jobs (data processes, aggregations, pipeline)Design and write complex asynchronous, highly parallel, low-latency APIs and processesUse Gen AI tools (e.g. code assistants, AI docs) to boost speed, quality, and team efficiencyWork as part of an Agile team to maintain, improve, and monitor Adthena's data collection processes using Scala and JavaApply industry practices such as TDD and SOLID, and also Adthena's Engineering PracticesUnderstand and be able to apply data structures and algorithmsUnderstand Adthena's data architecture and use appropriate design patternsDesign and implement databases for relational and non-relational storage technologies.Support our Data Science team to help deliver their machine learning models into production environmentsBe empathetic towards team members and customersWho we look forResearch shows men apply if they meet ~60% of the criteria, while women and underrepresented groups apply only if they meet all requirements.
