About the RoleWe are looking for a skilled Java Developer to join our growing engineering team in London. You will be involved in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality backend systems and enterprise applications. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain high-performance backend services using Java (8/11/17).Build and enhance REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.Work with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate/JPA, and related frameworks.Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following industry best practices.Participate in the full SDLC: planning, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and DevOps to deliver reliable features.Optimise applications for speed, reliability, and scalability.Maintain good documentation and ensure code quality via code reviews and testing. Required Skills & Experience2–4+ years of hands-on experience as a Java Developer or Backend Engineer.Strong proficiency with Java (8–17) and Spring Boot ecosystem.Good understanding of:RESTful APIsMicroservices architectureJPA/HibernateMaven/GradleSolid experience with SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and basic NoSQL knowledge.Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).Experience in unit testing (JUnit, Mockito).Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.⭐ Nice-to-HaveExperience with messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Event-Driven Architecture.Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).Knowledge of microservices patterns and cloud-native design.Performance tuning and JVM internals understanding.
