Teaching Assistant - SEN (MLD / SLD) Location: Peterborough School Type: Specialist SEN School Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm (Full-Time) About the School Simply Education is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Peterborough, supporting children and young people aged 2-19 years with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD). The school offers a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, where every pupil is encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally, enabling them to reach their full potential. The Role We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Teaching Assistant to join this dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone with mainstream classroom experience who is looking to move into a rewarding SEND setting. You will support pupils with a range of additional and complex needs, so a calm, patient, and empathetic approach is essential. Key Responsibilities Support pupils with MLD/SLD in the classroom, one-to-one, and in small groups Assist teachers in delivering individualised learning programmes and structured daily routines Promote pupils' independence, confidence, and engagement Support behaviour management strategies and help maintain a positive, calm learning environment Build strong and supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and families About You Experience working with children or young people (school, childcare, or community settings) Patient, resilient, and compassionate, with a flexible and proactive mindset Confident supporting pupils with additional or complex needs Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people Why Join Simply Education?
