Underwriter - Belfast We are hiring for our client, a well-established commercial insurance provider, to recruit an experienced Underwriter for their Belfast office. In this role, you will support the profitable development of the SME account by underwriting a range of commercial risks, managing both renewals and new business while building strong relationships with brokers. The Role Underwrite commercial risks within agreed processes and risk appetites. Negotiate renewals, quotations, and handle ad hoc enquiries with brokers. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers to support new business development and retention. Provide tailored insurance solutions while managing cases to ensure profitable outcomes. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements. Contribute to high standards of customer satisfaction by delivering efficient and accurate responses. Develop and maintain good internal relationships to support team and customer deliverables. The Person Minimum of 3 years' experience in commercial insurance, ideally in underwriting, but broking or claims experience may also be considered. Strong technical knowledge across a range of commercial insurance products. Results-driven, with excellent negotiation skills and a client-focused approach. Able to work to tight deadlines and deliver high-quality results. Strong working knowledge of most commercial classes of business and associated insurance products. Proficient in IT (Excel and other platforms). Highly motivated and proactive, with a keen attention to detail. Desirable: Cert CII (or working towards it).
