Design Engineer - Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Location: Ipswich, Suffolk Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (DOE) Type: Full-Time, PermanentAbout the CompanyOur client is a well-established heavy industrial manufacturer based in Ipswich, known for delivering robust, innovative engineering solutions across a range of industries. With continued investment in new technology and product development, they're now looking to strengthen their design team with an experienced Design Engineer.The RoleAs a Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing and improving complex mechanical systems and components for large-scale industrial equipment. Working closely with production, projects, and R&D teams, you'll take concepts from initial design through to manufacture and installation.Key Responsibilities Produce accurate 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings. Develop innovative design solutions for heavy industrial machinery and components. Support product development from concept through to production and commissioning. Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure design integrity and manufacturability. Perform design reviews, stress analysis, and tolerance studies where required. Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Skills & Experience Required Proven experience as a Design Engineer within a heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing environment. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar). Strong mechanical design, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Knowledge of fabrication, welding, or machining processes (advantageous). Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Design Engineering (or equivalent experience). What's on Offer Competitive salary up to £50,000 (depending on experience).
