Posting Title: Policy Associate Payments Industry: Financial Services Salary: £38,000 – £50,000 Work Experience: 1–3 years Summary The Policy Associate Payments role is a critical position within the Financial Services sector, focusing on the development, analysis, and implementation of payment-related policies that ensure compliance, efficiency, and innovation across payment systems. This role supports the strategic alignment of payment operations with regulatory frameworks, internal risk management standards, and evolving market demands. As a key contributor, the Policy Associate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, risk, legal, and product development, to deliver actionable insights and recommendations. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex regulatory and operational requirements into practical policy guidance. By facilitating high-impact meetings, contributing to industry events, and providing expert advice, the Policy Associate plays a vital role in shaping the future of secure, scalable, and customer-centric payment solutions within a dynamic financial environment. Responsibilities Conduct in-depth analysis of national and international payment regulations, standards, and emerging trends to inform policy development. Support the drafting, review, and updating of internal payment policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with compliance, risk, and legal teams to assess policy impacts and mitigate potential operational or regulatory risks. Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on payment policy interpretation, implementation, and adherence. Participate in internal and external meetings, workshops, and industry events to stay current on payment innovations, regulatory changes, and best practices. Facilitate cross-departmental coordination to ensure policy consistency across payment product design, technology integration, and customer service frameworks. Maintain comprehensive documentation of policy changes, decision rationale, and stakeholder feedback. Monitor payment system performance and identify opportunities for policy improvements to enhance security, speed, and user experience. Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior leadership and governance bodies. Requirements Bachelor’s degree. 1–3 years of experience in financial services, policy analysis, payments, or regulatory consulting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks. Proven experience in consulting or advisory roles, particularly within payment systems, fintech, or banking environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to non-specialist audiences. Experience attending and contributing to high-level meetings, stakeholder consultations, and industry events. Proficiency in data analysis tools and documentation platforms (e.g., Excel, SharePoint, Confluence). Familiarity with key payment systems (e.g., SEPA, SWIFT, Faster Payments, PCI-DSS) and regulatory bodies (e.g., FCA, ECB, ISO). Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Willingness to travel occasionally for events, training, or stakeholder engagements.
