Mobile Plant Operator – Days & Afternoons (Rotating Shifts)Location: Irlam, Manchester M44 5AY Salary: £12.88 per hour + shift allowancesShift Pattern: Monday to Friday (rotating shifts) Day shift: 6:00am – 3:00pmAfternoon shift: 1:30pm – 10:30pmSaturday mornings: Every other Saturday, 6:00am – 11:00am (as required)The RoleWe are currently looking for a Mobile Plant Operator to join our team on a rotating days and afternoons shift pattern. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile plant and machinery, ensuring productivity, quality, and health & safety standards are met at all times.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate loading shovels and 360° material handlers to load/unload vehicles and stockpile materialsOperate FLT and clamp trucks to handle and load baled materialsProcess commodity materials using the site baler (full training provided)Carry out daily plant checks, routine maintenance, and accurate record keepingMaintain high standards of housekeeping across all areas of the siteConduct regular inspections of site infrastructureControl internal vehicle and pedestrian traffic safelyEnsure timely turnaround of deliveries and collectionsCommunicate any operational issues or hazards to the supervisor promptlyActively contribute to improving productivity and reducing wasteFollow all health, safety, and environmental procedures, reporting concerns as requiredWhat We’re Looking ForBasic knowledge of Health & Safety within an industrial or processing environmentA strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environmentValid licences for: 360° Excavator (wheeled and tracked), Loading Shovel, FLT (3.5t)Self-motivated with the ability to work rotating shiftsAbility to follow verbal and written instructions accuratelyA team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic Changing the way people think about waste.At Biffa, we love working with waste.
