Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant – SEMH Secondary SchoolLocation: Manchester City Centre Contract: Full-time Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience About the RoleTeaching Personnel are seeking a resilient and empathetic Behaviour Support Assistant to join a Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Manchester City Centre. This specialist provision supports pupils who have been removed from mainstream education due to persistent behavioural challenges and complex SEMH needs, including ADHD, anxiety, attachment disorders, trauma, and oppositional behaviours. Your role will be crucial in helping these pupils regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and develop positive coping strategies. Essential Requirements Enhanced DBS registered on the Update ServiceExperience supporting pupils with SEMH needs or in alternative provisionsStrong behaviour management skills and ability to remain calm under pressureA patient, empathetic approach with a commitment to inclusion Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional regulation and engagement.Implement Behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.Support pupils in developing resilience, social skills, and positive coping mechanisms.Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external agencies to ensure consistent support.Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour incidents, and emotional wellbeing, reporting to senior staff.Contribute to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that promotes trust and respect.
