The Role
ABC Teachers are recruiting 1:1 Support Workers to work across a range of mainstream and specialist SEND schools in the City Centre of Birmingham.As a 1:1 Support Worker, you will work directly with pupils who require additional support to access the curriculum, develop independence, and thrive socially and emotionally. You will provide personalised support tailored to the needs of individual children, supporting learning, behaviour, communication, and personal development.This role is ideal for candidates with experience in SEND support, SEMH, autism, care work, youth work, or mentoring, or for those seeking a rewarding role in education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one support for pupils with SEND or SEMH needs
Support learning, communication, social skills and engagement in lessons
Assist with personal care and daily routines as required
Support behaviour strategies and promote positive outcomes
Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement individualised plans
Encourage confidence, independence and social interaction

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience supporting pupils in a school, care or youth setting
A caring, patient, and proactive approach
Confidence in supporting learning, behaviour, and personal care
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Training and ongoing CPD are provided for those new to school-based 1:1 support roles.
