Are you trained in Team Teach and de-escalation strategies, and able to remain calm under pressure?KPi Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEN provision in East London to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support Assistant. This is a high-responsibility role supporting pupils from Primary through to Sixth Form, many of whom require intensive behavioural and emotional support.About KPi EducationKPi Education specialises in placing experienced SEN professionals and high-performing graduates into long-term roles across London. We work closely with specialist schools that require consistent, emotionally intelligent, and highly skilled behaviour support staff.This role is suited to someone who is confident, resilient, and experienced in complex SEN environments.The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant (Complex Behaviour Support)You will work with pupils aged 5–18 presenting with significant behavioural and emotional needs, including: Severe and persistent challenging behaviourSEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needsAutism (ASC), ADHD, PDA profilesTrauma, attachment difficulties, and dysregulationCrisis behaviour requiring skilled intervention Your responsibilities will include: Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with high-level behavioural needsConfidently applying Team Teach and de-escalation techniquesSupporting emotional regulation, crisis management, and recovery strategiesImplementing individual behaviour intervention plansSupporting classroom engagement, transitions, and structured routinesWorking closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teamsMaintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic learning environment This is a hands-on, demanding role requiring experience, resilience, and professionalism.Essential Person SpecificationTo be considered, you must have: A degree in Psychology or a related field (e.g. Mental Health, Criminology, Education, Sociology)Substantial experience supporting SEN pupils with complex or severe behaviourTeam Teach training (or equivalent accredited behaviour intervention qualification)Proven experience using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategiesExperience in an SEN school, SEMH provision, PRU, alternative provision, or youth serviceStrong emotional resilience, patience, and a calm, authoritative approach Desirable: Trauma-informed practice experienceStrong understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH, and PDAKnowledge of safeguarding, therapeutic education, and behaviour frameworks Why Work with KPi Education?
