We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Domestic Violence Support Worker to provide specialist, culturally sensitive support to survivors of domestic violence from South Asian communities. This role is essential in ensuring survivors can access support in their first language and in a way that recognises cultural, family, and immigration-related barriers.You will deliver trauma-informed, survivor-centred support to empower individuals to increase safety, wellbeing, and independence.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide one-to-one emotional and practical support to survivors of domestic violenceDeliver support in a South Asian language to ensure accessibility and understandingConduct risk assessments and safety planningSupport survivors with housing, legal options, immigration issues (where relevant), benefits, and health referralsAdvocate on behalf of clients with statutory and voluntary agenciesMaintain accurate, confidential case recordsParticipate in multi-agency working, including MARAC where appropriatePromote survivor choice, empowerment, and confidentiality at all timesFollow safeguarding procedures for adults and childrenEssential CriteriaFluency in at least one South Asian language (e.g. Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Sylheti)Experience supporting individuals affected by domestic violence, abuse, or other complex needsStrong understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and its impactAbility to work in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive mannerKnowledge of safeguarding and risk managementExcellent communication and organisational skillsAbility to work independently and manage a caseloadDesirableRelevant qualification (e.g. IDVA, social care, counselling, or equivalent experience)Experience working with South Asian or other minoritised communitiesKnowledge of immigration-related abuse and “no recourse to public funds”Experience of multi-agency working and MARAC processesWhat We OfferSupportive, specialist working environmentRegular supervision and access to specialist trainingOpportunities for professional developmentEquality & Safeguarding StatementThis post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
