ROLEDue to continued growth and a significant increase in workload following a record year, our client is seeking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their York-based team.The role provides exposure across both pre- and post-contract stages and a varied project portfolio, including residential (housing and high-rise), education, and local authority schemes. The majority of projects are regionally based, primarily across Yorkshire.This opportunity is well suited to individuals with 1-2 years’ post-graduate experience as well as graduates looking to begin their quantity surveying career, with strong support and mentoring available from an experienced senior team. RESPONSIBILITIESKey responsibilities will include:Supporting senior quantity surveyors across pre- and post-contract stagesAssisting with cost planning, budgeting, and financial reportingSupporting procurement processes, including tender documentation and analysisAssisting with contractor valuations, variations, and final accountsMonitoring project costs, cash flow, and commercial performanceSupporting contract administration under JCT and NEC formsLiaising with clients, contractors, and consultantsAttending project and internal team meetingsProviding accurate and timely financial information to stakeholdersMaintaining a proactive, professional, and detail-focused approach PERSONThe successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor is likely to demonstrate:A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related built environment discipline (or working towards one)1-2 years’ experience in a construction, consultancy, or contractor environment, or a strong academic background as a recent graduateApplicants welcomed from a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, infrastructure, housing, consultancy, or contractor backgroundsAwareness of JCT and/or NEC contracts (desirable)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsA professional, personable, and confident mannerA positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and strong work ethicGood organisational and time management skillsCompetency with Microsoft Office softwarePersonality and attitude are key - our client is open to individuals from different backgrounds who demonstrate the right approach and motivation to develop within a consultancy environment.
