Job Title: BuyerLocation: Newcastle upon TyneSalary: £35,000 – £40,000 We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our client’s purchasing team. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and services to support manufacturing requirements. About the CompanyOur client is a leading precision engineering business, specialising in high-quality components for demanding sectors such as oil & gas, power generation, defence, and renewables. They offer excellent opportunities for career development within a supportive environment. Flexible working pattern: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am – 3:30pm, and Friday, 7:30am – 1:30pm (35 hours per week), with flexibility on start and finish times. The Buyer RoleAs the Buyer, you will work closely with suppliers, build strong relationships, and manage purchasing activities in line with business processes. The Buyer will also play a key part in mentoring an apprentice and supporting the company’s growth plans. Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret contract review documents and construct product structuresManage MRP demands, raise purchase orders for materials and sub-contract servicesSource and obtain competitive quotations from suppliersMaintain and update purchase order dates, communicating changes to stakeholdersResolve technical queries and ensure compliance with contract requirementsMentor an apprentice within the purchasing team About YouExperience within a sub-contract engineering environment is essentialStrong knowledge of MRP and ERP systems (IFS experience advantageous)Excellent communication and relationship-building skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to work independently We’re committed to promoting inclusive opportunities.
