Recovery Worker FTCLocation: DoverSalary: £24,000 per annumVacancy Type: ContractClosing date: 27 Jan 2026About The Role**Please note this role is fixed-term until 30/09/2026**We are looking for a committed and motivated Drug & Alcohol Recovery Worker to join our team. Working within an integrated healthcare framework, you will support adults (18+) who are experiencing problems with drugs and/or alcohol.Our services are designed to deliver client-centred, evidence-based interventions that combine both harm reduction and abstinence approaches, depending on individual needs. You will manage a caseload, provide structured 1:1 and group interventions, deliver care plans, and ensure continuity of care through close collaboration with partner agencies.This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives while contributing to key outcomes for service users, commissioners, and the wider community.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload, carrying out assessments, risk management, and SMART care planningDeliver structured 1:1 interventions, group sessions, and treatment programmesProvide appropriate harm reduction advice and guidanceSupport clients in developing recovery plans tailored to their needsWork collaboratively with housing, healthcare, probation, employment, and other services to ensure through-care and integrated supportPromote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of service deliveryContribute to service and commissioner targets, with a focus on measurable recovery outcomesWork flexibly, including some evenings/weekends and occasional travel to other projects to ensure continuity of careEssential Skills & ExperienceExperience working in substance misuse servicesExperience in assessments, risk management, and SMART care planningSkilled in delivering structured interventions and facilitating groupsProficient in motivational interviewing (1:1 and group settings)Strong IT and record-keeping skillsUnderstanding of holistic care, continuity of care, and community servicesExperience promoting equality, diversity, and inclusive practiceKnowledge RequiredStrong understanding of issues faced by substance misusersKnowledge of the Recovery AgendaKnowledge of safeguarding practices and responsibilitiesQualificationsLevel 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)Desirable Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceKnowledge and commitment to the 12-step recovery processUnderstanding of community support services and the criminal justice sectorLived experience of addiction or imprisonment (with at least 3 years’ clean time or 5 years since release, where applicable)Previous experience in a community or prison settingExperience utilising clinical supervisionKnowledge of NHS health and wellbeing outcomesAdditional qualifications in substance misuseApplicants with lived experience of substance misuse should have at least three years of continuous recovery and be a minimum of three years post-discharge from structured treatment to be eligible for this role.About UsWe are The Forward Trust, the social enterprise with charitable status that empowers people to break the often interlinked cycles of crime and addiction to move forward with their lives.
